Discover Southampton

Matrix e Business have designed and developed the Discover Southampton portal which is the excellent new virtual gateway to Southampton.

Glen and his team have worked patiently and tirelessly to build this high quality and comprehensive website in a short space of time. Business Southampton is also delighted to welcome Matrix as a City Champion, one of the growing band of leading companies in the SO postcode region, helping to sell and promote the Southampton area as the best place to do business in the South, outside London.

Hosting
Matrix provides a robust managed hosting service for the Discover Southampton portal. This is provided on our London datacenter based servers, and provides a backup service and extensive statistics.

Branding
We developed a logo for the portal, that provided the basis for an online brand. The logo is modern and hints at the nautical background of Southampton.

Bespoke CMS
The Content Management System behind the site provides an easy way of managing the colour coded sections / channels. Within channels the website administrator can build free form pages, or can build drectories.

Integrated Mapping
The directories automatically generate Google Maps from the postcodes provided, which are a great resource when researching information in the city.

Flash
Part of the brief was to combine the extensive content of a portal, whilst also acting as a showcase to promote the many positive things about the city.  This was achieved by building a dynamic piece of Flash to be used in each section, which reads content in from an XML file, which allows messages from the Southampton Vision to be promoted.

SEO
The website uses the dynamic content entered through the CMS to produce search engine friendly pages. The website achieve search engine results for a wide range of terms
